- 2 oz. Rye Whiskey
- 1 oz. Sweet (Italian) Vermouth
- 2-3 dashes Angostura Bitters
- Maraschino Cherry, for garnish
- Stir ingredients with ice until very cold. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass, and garnish with a cherry.
- Bourbon can be substituted for rye, if you prefer it, although it will result in a sweeter, less assertive drink.
- Can also be served on the rocks.
- Remember: if it doesn't have bitters, it's not a Manhattan.
